Five Grains Of Rice

A rich man has four sons. As he grows old, he decides to give his property to the son who would value the wealth he had earned. He calls his four sons and gives them each five grains of rice. He tells them that he shall ask for these grains at the end of 5 years & he would give his property to the son who would value these grains the most.

The first son throws away the grains. He decides to show his father some other grains when he would ask for them after 5 yrs, in anticipation that his father would not be able to see the difference between the two sets of grains.

The second son eats the grains. He too decides to show his father some other grains when he would ask for them after 5 yrs, in anticipation that his father would not be able to see the difference between the two sets of grains.

* Isn’t it strange how a $100 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to the temple, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

* Isn’t it strange how endless an hour seems when we are serving God, but how short it is when we watch a Football game or Cricket for 60 minutes?

* Isn’t it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you’re at the temple and how short they seem when you’re watching a good movie?

* Isn’t it strange that you can’t find things to say when you’re praying, but you have no trouble in thinking what to talk about with a friend?

* Isn’t it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of Bhagwad Gita, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel?

* Isn’t it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games, but they do whatever is possible to sit in the last row in the temple?

* Isn’t it strange how we need to know about an event for the temple 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events at the last minute?

* Isn’t it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others, but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

* Isn’t it strange how we believe everything that Magazines and Newspapers say but we question the words in the holy books like Ramayan?

* Isn’t it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, but they don’t want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

* Isn’t it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are Fowarded right away, but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about twice before we share them with others?

How To Succeed At Work And In Career

1. Don’t talk negatively about people behind their backs. If you gossip, people won’t confide in you. Mind your own business. 

2. Try to work for someone who’ll challenge your powers.You’ll learn more in a year than 4 years of college. 

3. Successful bosses have good communication skills. They learn from people, including their employees. 

4. Work in such a way that makes your boss look good. It’s not flattery. 

5. On downsizing, the first to go are those with few friends. Bosses prefer competent people whom they respect. 

6. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have. Let your dress reflect professionalism. 

7. Workout to get in good physical shape. Unless exceptionally skilled, the unhealthy are at a comparative disadvantage. 

8. Personal integrity is crucial. Tell nothing but the truth. Bosses can forgive mistakes but if you lie, you’re gone. 

9. Be on time. Try to arrive few minutes early. It saves you from stress. You’ll be much relaxed & work better. 
10. Strive your best to keep a deadline. If you cannot meet it, then apologize & ask for an extension

11. Don’t take things personally. If some people are unhappy with you, it’s their problem. But always strive to give your best.

12. If you must correct someone, don’t get personal about it. Do it never in front of others.

13. Spend some time alone everyday. What’s the mission of my life? What do I want to be? And how to go about it.

14. As you move along Plan A of your career, maintain a Plan B as well — an alternative course to rely

15. Always remember that the secret of success is passion. Always think big. Spread love & joy. You’ll have blissful years ahead.

Conquer Your Weakness

This is a story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.

The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn’t understand why, after three months of training, the master had taught him only one move. “Sensei,” the boy finally said, “Shouldn’t I be learning more moves?”

“This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you’ll ever need to know,” the Sensei replied. Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.

Several months later, the Sensei took the boy to his first tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match. Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals.
